Capstone Process Steps:
Step 1: Meet
This is our opportunity to get to know you and what you are dreaming about building. This is where we get to hear about your vision for your new home.
It’s also the time that you get to know Capstone Custom Homes and what we can do for you.
Capstone Custom Homes have a minimum specification for their homes. Each item is specifically chosen for aesthetics, functionality or energy efficiency. When people walk into a Capstone Custom Home, we want them to see it and to feel it. Details matter, and the minimum specifications of a Capstone Custom Home set a uniform standard for all of our homes.
At this point, until all of the interior and exterior selections have been made, only very high-level construction costs can be determined.
Step 2: Design
After gathering additional information from you, the next step is to get blueprints of your home.
If you have not selected an Architectural designer, Barry can suggest a design firm that might be the best suited to your project. Designers often have an area of specialization that Barry might think would work well for you. Capstone Custom Homes have had the privilege of working with a number of very notable design firms in Calgary, Alberta.
Step 3: Quote
Once a full set of architectural plans are available, we can move toward submission of the plan for the required city or municipal permits, and the creation of conceptual estimates.
It is critical that you receive a detailed preliminary estimate for your custom home. If you are working with an Interior Designer, material selections need to made so that each of the selections can be sent out for individual quotations. We recognize that not all decisions can be made up front.
Our estimating team will get quotations for selections that have been made, and set aside an allowance for items that have not been chosen.
As Brigitte points out, Capstone take a “no-stone-left-unturned approach. It’s important to set realistic expectations upfront and include everything it takes to build your home when preparing your budget. Our clients can rest assured we’re not quoting low to win the job and then charge extras after the start of construction.”
After the estimate has been explained and agreed upon, we will enter into a construction agreement.
Step 4: Construct
Once the construction contract is signed, the construction project schedule is created and construction begins.
Brigitte monitors and maintains the budget as the project progresses. She has a knack for keeping client budgets on track. If there are changes during construction, Brigitte will ensure that the client understands the impact of the changes to the budget prior to initiating the change.
Brigitte points out: “As building gets underway, invoices are then supplied directly from the trade or supplier with no hidden markups, because when we say are transparent, we mean it. Our commitment is to be transparent and accountable to the entire process from our relationship with our client to our expertise in architectural design, budgeting, selection and construction through to service and warranty after possession.”
Step 5: Complete
Your new home is completed and ready for your pre-occupancy walk through and new home warranty transference.
