Barry was the builder who built Brigitte a custom home in 20XX. She had experience building homes but never a custom home. Brigitte knew she needed a good builder, and Barry was good. But Brigitte did not really know what to expect in building her custom home. The two worked closely together and her custom home was built. More importantly, a friendship was built.
The two reflected on the building experience they just had and realized how good it was. What made it good was that Barry, as the builder, was fully engaged with Brigitte, the client. Barry explained the building process and made sure Brigitte fully understood it. Then he continued to be open with her as the construction schedule began. She was informed and advised about the time line, the budget and Barry worked collaboratively with her Architect and Interior Designers. Barry considers the Architect and the Interior Designers part of the “team” that he works in building a custom home. The Architects and Interior Designers, form the vision for his client’ s homes, and it was Barry’s job to make sure he executes on that vision. His “team” includes professional trades, suppliers, vendors and real estate professionals. All of these diverse individuals play a role in the clients overall building experience.
